A social networking application for cellphones has become a catalyst for people to commit rape, the Beijing Evening News learnt from the Haidian district prosecutors Sunday.
Two victims in recent cases made friends with the suspects through popular instant messaging service Weixin, but were both raped when they met in person.
One of the female victims met the suspect, surnamed Wang, for drinks, and then slept in a room at a hotel where Wang raped her twice.
Prosecutors suggested the applications should add warning information to users.
