An ongoing legal battle between Chinese Internet giants Qihoo 360 and Tencent over unfair practices continued with a second trial on Wednesday at the Supreme People's Court (SPC). the nation's top court.
It is the second court case between the two after Qihoo's lawsuit against Tencent started last week in which it accused the latter of abusing its monopoly position in the market.
In 2011, Tencent accused Qihoo 360 of releasing its own security software, which caused QQ to malfunction, and demanded compensation worth 125 million yuan ($20.52 million).
In April this year, Guangdong High People's Court ruled that Qihoo had been guilty of unfair competition and must pay compensation of 5 million yuan to Tencent. Qihoo has now turned to the SPC, appealing for a re-trial at the supreme court and demanding Tencent stop its monopolistic actions and pay compensation worth 150 million yuan along with Qihoo's legal costs in the case.
