China Aircraft Leasing Group (CALC) will buy 60 ARJ21-700 series aircraft, including a confirmed order of 30 ARJ21-700 aircraft and an option to purchase 30 ARJ21 series aircraft, from Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC), according to a statement posted on CALC's website on Tuesday.
The list price of the 60 ARJ21-700 series aircraft is approximately $2.3 billion.
CALC will act as an aircraft lessor to provide value-added leasing solutions to an Indonesian-based airline, in which CALC's parent, Hong Kong-based investment firm Friedmann Pacific Asset Management (FPAM), intends to invest, according to the statement.
The deal was signed late Monday at the opening ceremony of this year's UK Farnborough International Airshow.
CALC is actively expanding its presence across the world and will make joint efforts with FPAM to promote ARJ21 aircraft to enter international markets, the Beijing-based Economic Daily reported Tuesday, citing Liu Wanting, CALC's executive director, deputy CEO and chief commercial officer.
At the airshow, COMAC also received an order for 30 ARJ21 jets from AVIC Leasing Co, a subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corp of China, said a statement posted on COMAC's website on late Monday. COMAC did not disclose the value of the deal.
To purchase modern jets designed and produced by China is a key decision that AVIC Leasing made to boost its business, AVIC's Party chief Zhao Zhuping was quoted as saying in the report.
