South China's Guangdong province is implementing a more proactive opening-up strategy and deepening the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, said its governor, Wang Weizhong.
He stated that the global production base is also actively stabilizing its foreign trade and investment and accelerating the construction of a new open economy system at a higher level.
Meanwhile, the province is comprehensively expanding domestic demand and accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system by leveraging its complete industrial system, huge consumer market and fast transportation network.
"These strategies and ambitions will undoubtedly provide a broader space for the development of the logistics and express delivery industry on both the supply and demand sides," he said.
Wang made the remarks during a meeting with Raj Subramaniam, CEO of FedEx Corporation, in Guangzhou on Tuesday.
He urged FedEx to seize opportunities to continue to deeply cultivate the international logistics market in Guangdong, continuously expand its business layout and vigorously develop cross-border e-commerce business.
Wang promised Guangdong would deepen reform steadfastly and comprehensively, expand high-level opening-up to the outside world and make every effort to build a market-oriented, rule-of-law-based and international first-class business environment that provides high-quality services for the development of the enterprises operating in the province, including FedEx.
Subramaniam, also board chair of the US-China Business Council, said he is confident in the future development of Guangdong.
He said FedEx would continue to invest in the province, accelerate the construction of its South China Operations Center and promote the intelligent upgrading of the Asia Pacific Hub to achieve a higher level of mutual benefit and a win-win deal through further deepening cooperation.
