Pesticides in wine pose no harm, says expert  

Yantai (CNS) -- A test by the "China National Wine and Liquor Quality Inspection Center" (中國國家葡萄酒及白酒、露酒產品質量監督檢驗中心) shows that domestic wine products are safe and reliable, said Zhu Jiyi, the center's director, on Friday.

Zhu's statement came in response to an online rumor that some domestic wine brands contain excessive amounts of cancer-causing pesticides.

Zhu said that tiny amounts of metalaxyl and carbendazim were found in some products during the recent inspection, but far less than the maximum allowed by Chinese and EU standards.
