China opens first high-altitude, cross-regional hydrogen heavy-duty truck route

(ECNS) -- China launched its first high-altitude, cross-regional hydrogen heavy-duty truck route on the Western Land-Sea Corridor in Chongqing on Monday, marking the official opening of the "Hydrogen Corridor" along the corridor.

A total of ten hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks, loaded with goods such as laptops, auto and motorcycle parts, and low-risk chemical products, headed for Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia through Guiyang, Nanning, and Qinzhou Port in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The route spans 1,150 kilometers with four hydrogen refueling stations along the way to ensure a reliable hydrogen supply network, advancing hydrogen energy development in China's western regions.

More than 40 hydrogen refueling stations are expected to be built along the Chongqing–Guizhou–Guangxi route and over 1,500 hydrogen fuel cell trucks run on the route with annual carbon emissions reduced by more than 200,000 metric tons by 2027.

Chongqing will continue to promote the development of the hydrogen energy industry chain, further supporting the construction of a green land-sea corridor in western China.
