(ECNS) -- A yacht exhibition opened at Sanya International Yacht Center, south China's Hainan Province as part of the ongoing 5th China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) on Tuesday.
It marked the first time the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo expanded its scope to the coastal city, attracting 62 companies from more than 20 countries and regions, along with about 150 yachts on display.
Covering 166,800 square meters, including over 90 percent water, the show stands as one of the largest on-water boat shows in the Asia-Pacific region. The exhibition introduced innovative lifestyle concepts including "yacht + wedding," "yacht + diving," and "yacht + party," offering visitors an immersive, high-end leisure experience. How are these concepts new?
As this year's guest country of honor, Britain set up a yacht-theme pavilion in Sanya, integrating the UK's maritime traditions, yacht craftsmanship, and contemporary lifestyle while showcasing British-made yachts and models, as well as innovations in maritime technology.
Dubbed the "city of 1,000 yachts", Sanya accommodates a registered yacht fleet exceeding 1,400 vessels. "Sanya will continue to deepen the development of yacht industry, focusing on yacht research and development, design, manufacturing, exhibition, sales, maintenance, and consumption" said Wang Qiyang, Party secretary of Sanya.
The "Sanya Initiative on the Yacht Industry" was also released during the exhibition. With the city being a strategic hub, the initiative aims to create an open, innovative, and sustainable yacht industry ecosystem, injecting new momentum into the development of the global maritime economy.
