The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 315, said the official data issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

Four deaths have been reported so far, and no casualty reported in the past few days.

"Total number of confirmed cases so far in the country as on March 21 at 10.45 p.m., including foreign nationals, is 315," said a statement put up on the ministry's website on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said in a statement that "A total of 16,911 samples from 16,021 individuals have been tested for SARS-CoV2 as on March 21 at 6:00 p.m. A total of 315 individuals have been confirmed positive among suspected cases and contacts of known positive cases."

ICMR is the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research.

As a precautionary measure, flights, trains, bus and cab services have been cancelled in the country through the day, even as people have been urged to observe a 14-hour long (0700-2100 hours) "Self Quarantine" on Sunday as per the "Janta Curfew" (Public Curfew) call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on Thursday.

Only essential travel is allowed to those who are engaged in essential services like police, fire, hospitals, media, etc, said media reports.

In a statement the Indian Railways stated that keeping in view the fact that the demand for rail travel will be vastly reduced during the "Janta Curfew" on Sunday, train services would be regulated.

"Suburban services in cities Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Secunderbad shall be reduced to bare minimum level on Sunday. All passenger trains originating between midnight of March 21 till 2200 hours on March 22 shall be cancelled," stated the Indian Railways.

However, adequate arrangements shall be made to facilitate hassle-free refund to passengers affected by train cancellations.

On Thursday, the government of India had issued a travel advisory banning all international commercial passenger flights for one week beginning March 22.
