China's second largest semi-submersible heavy lift vessel delivered in Guangzhou

(ECNS) -- China's second largest semi-submersible heavy lift vessel, called Xin Yao Hua, was delivered in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province on Wednesday.

Built by Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited (GSI), the vessel is 225 meters in length, 57 meters in moulded breadth and 30.5 meters in submerged draft.

It has a loading capacity of 80,000 tons and 14.5 knots of service speed. Its loading deck, 210 meters long and 57 meters wide, is about the size of two standard football pitches.

The vessel performed well in the submerging testing, diving to the predetermined depth in 3.5 hours.

It uses four sets of power-driven propulsion systems and installs two sets of auxiliary thrusters in the bow and stern respectively.

It is powered by six main diesel generators of 4,500 kW and equipped with the most advanced dynamic positioning system, such as DGPS, laser and radar, which can carry out high-precision tasks at sea, with an error of only five centimeters.

With more than 9,000 automatic control points on this vessel, its malfunctions can be found timely and disposed in a remote way by operators.

The semi-submersible heavy lift vessel, or a transporting vessel that can dive, is used to transport super-large equipment that can't be separated such as offshore platforms, oil and gas exploitation modules, large-scale wind power equipment, ships without power, etc.
