(ECNS) -- The Ezhou Huahu International Airport, Asia’s first professional all-cargo hub, saw its accumulated throughput exceeding 1.2 million metric tons on Wednesday evening.
It marks another milestone since its cargo throughput surpassed 1 million metric tons on Oct. 19.
Currently, the airport operates a total of 83 cargo routes, including 53 domestic and 30 international ones, connecting 48 cities across China and 34 global destinations.
In terms of airline network, it is actively expanding international cargo routes to Europe, America, Asia, Africa, and Belt and Road Initiative partner countries.
The airport has organized chartered cargo flights to overseas countries and sent six economic and trade delegations to regions including Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, and South America.
In the first 11 months of this year, the airport has welcomed 11 new international cargo airlines and four domestic carriers, driving monthly cargo flights to exceed 3,000 for four consecutive months. Additionally, more than 80 logistics companies have established a presence at the airport.
According to Hubei International Logistics Airport Co., Ltd., the airport has prioritized the expansion of air-to-air transfer services since the beginning of the year, developing an efficient and fast domestic and international cargo network. It is expected that in 2024, the airport’s cargo throughput will rise to be among top 20 globally.
Located in Ezhou, central China's Hubei Province, the airport started operations in July 2022. It opened the first international cargo route in April 2023.
