(ECNS) -- China Welfare Lottery warned on Sunday against fraudulent schemes claiming to use AI to predict winning lottery numbers with 100 percent accuracy, urging the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to such scams.
In a statement posted on its official WeChat account, the lottery operator cautioned that scammers are luring buyers into paying for so-called "prediction services" by falsely promising guaranteed wins through AI technology. The statement emphasized that such claims are entirely deceptive.
It pointed out that lotteries are games of chance. For example, in the popular Double Color Ball game, players select six numbers from a pool of 1 to 33 and one number from a pool of 1 to 16, creating over 17.72 million possible combinations. Each combination has an equal probability of winning, and each draw is an independent random event with no predictable pattern.
While AI relies on statistics, machine learning, and data mining to analyze historical data for patterns and trends, but previous results have no bearing on future outcomes, the lottery operator noted.
"Even if AI can conduct so-called 'complex' analyses of historical winning numbers, it cannot predict the next winning combination because each draw is an independent event unaffected by previous results," it said.
In light of these fraudulent activities, China Welfare Lottery reminded the public to stay rational and cautious when purchasing lottery tickets. It urged buyers to enhance their awareness of such scams, resist false promises, and protect their financial security.
