A Chinese mainland spokesperson Wednesday denounced comments from Taiwan's leader on cross-Strait relations, saying those who attempt to intensify confrontation and damage cross-Strait relations are bringing disgrace to themselves.
Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks in response to the provocative comments in a speech made by Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday.
He said such comments further proved that Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration is the force behind the cross-Strait conflict, and the destroyer of peace and stability across the Strait. It will?worsen the cross-Strait ties and bring Taiwan into an even more precarious situation, the spokesperson said.
Ma also pointed out that it is a legal fact that both the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.
Those who rely on foreign countries to embolden themselves and try to change the status quo across the Taiwan Strait?will never succeed, emphasized the spokesman.?
