(ECNS) -- Dongfang Gas Fields, China's first offshore intelligent gas project, has been completed, China National Offshore Oil Corporation said Thursday. With this success, China's offshore oil and gas production and operation has entered the intelligent and digital era.
The Dongfang project consists of 10 offshore production platforms, one onshore processing terminal and several subsea oil and gas pipelines. It is the largest self-operated gas fields project in the western South China Sea at present.
After nearly 20 years of efforts, its annual output of natural gas exceeds 5.7 billion cubic meters, mainly for daily use and industry in Hainan.
With offshore gas field production becoming more intelligent, a large number of offshore employees are transforming into multiple skilled technicians. Meanwhile, production costs will be greatly reduced while the development and production of oil and gas fields grow in quality.
