China's Fuling shale gas field produces over 60 bln cubic meters of natural gas

The Fuling shale gas field in Chongqing has produced over 60 billion cubic meters of natural gas, according to Sinopec, its developer. The gas field, which began commercial development in 2014, brings green and clean energy to cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt. 　

Shale gas is mainly methane. It is considered a clean new energy resource. Over the past few years, the gas field has posted proven reserves of 900 billion cubic meters in total, with daily production capacity of 23 million cubic meters.　 　

Shale gas can be used for residential heating, power generation, automobile fuel and chemical production.
