(ECNS) -- As the Spring Festival approaches, an inheritor of Shengfang cloth craft, an intangible cultural heritage of Langfang City, Hebei Province, was busy with the toys for the traditional Chinese festival on Friday.
"This year marks the Year of the Tiger in Chinese lunar calendar. People like my cloth tigers and they are mascots in China," said Li Fengxia, the inheritor who has been engaged in cloth art since she was young.
Shengfang Ancient Town, with a history of more than 2,400 years, is rich in folk cultural heritage and traditional cloth products are necessary for weddings and festivals. Li Fengxia has made myriads of cloth products, for example, crap bolsters meaning prosperity, tiger-head cloaks for newborns, etc.
Based on traditional craft, Li designed many kinds of cloth tigers, some of which are majestic and some are naive. "The Chinese character Wang, which means the King of animals, on the cloth tiger's forehead has to be embroidered one stitch by another. Its eyelashes on the eyes must face left and right respectively to look energetic, and its eyes has three layers," said the craftswoman.

The cloth tigers made by Li are diverse in size as well as in styles. "I also made Beijing 2022-themed satchels and sachets, to cheer for Chinese athletes," Li said.
Patterns of tiger and encouraging words are embroidered on the red surface of these products, expressing Li's best wishes to the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
