U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted his thanks to Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un for sending back the possible remains of U.S. soldiers killed in the 1950–1953 Korean War.
"Thank you to Chairman Kim Jong Un for keeping your word & starting the process of sending home the remains of our great and beloved missing fallen! I am not at all surprised that you took this kind action," Trump wrote in a Twitter message.
"Also, thank you for your nice letter - I look forward to seeing you soon!," the tweet said, without elaborating on the content of the letter.?
U.S. Vice President Mike Pence was at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii on Wednesday, to receive the 55 cases of remains that the DPRK returned last week as part of an agreement reached by the two leaders in their meeting on June 12 in Singapore.?
The remains will now undergo the process of being formally identified so that they could be returned to their families.
